quiet beach
whangaumu beach just after sunrise, northland, new zealand. february 2009

padding silently through
the sleeping batch
i head for the sea,
wrapping the sound
of the waves like
a cloak around me,
digging my feet in
the sand, singing a
quiet karakia,
greeting this land.

  5. Uff, this one almost killed me. Perfect capture. Thank you, it’s been so long since I was home and I was a beach girl back then.
